About Me

Müller Fernandes, Solution Architect

Sixteen years inside a Brazilian telecom operator. From network operations, to mobile core engineering, to architecting IoT platforms at scale. I build systems that run unattended in production, and that I operate myself.

I turn business requirements into carrier-grade architectures. My work spans Mobile Core, MVNO and IoT connectivity, and the business cases that fund them.

My path started in operations, troubleshooting signalling across the mobile core, learning to trace a fault across the boundary between a multiples vendor’s black box. Over the years I configured SGSN, GGSN, HLR and STP for 2G/3G, deployed 4G with MME, PGW and DRA on virtualised Nokia and Huawei stacks, and designed MVNO integrations in pre-sales. For five years I held a combined Solution Architect and Product Owner role for the operator’s IoT platform, owning the roadmap, writing the user stories the development teams built, and shaping the pricing that made the product commercially viable.

Working directly from ETSI, 3GPP and GSMA specifications is where I learned to read and implement against standards rather than vendor manuals.

Outside work I run my own infrastructure as a self-hosting enthusiast: Ubuntu, Docker Compose, Traefik. Authelia, and a Kubernetes cluster, cert-manager issuing certificates over DNS-01 on cloudflare, all on VPS I administer end to end, where I build and operate full-stack applications for myself

My learning pattern is simple: I build things on infrastructure I own, break it, fix it, and write about it. Away from the terminal, I read science fiction and philosophy, and I write poetry.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with diverse clients across various industries, from startups to established corporations. Each project has been a unique opportunity to immerse myself in different brand identities, challenges, and creative visions.

What I Do Best

Mobile Core & MVNO

Packet core across 2G/3G/4G — SGSN, GGSN/PGW, MME, HLR/HSS, DRA and STP — plus MVNO enablement and Diameter/RADIUS signalling, configured hands-on from vendor CLIs and built directly against 3GPP and GSMA specifications.

eSIM & IoT Connectivity

GSMA SGP.32 remote provisioning, SIM-profile development with IDEMIA and Thales, and a real-time IoT connectivity platform (FreeRADIUS to PostgreSQL, CDC into Kafka, enriched into MongoDB) serving ~3M devices as a B2B SaaS.

Cloud-Native & Automation

Linux from the terminal up (LPIC-1), Docker and Kubernetes/K3s, and Python automation (FastAPI, Polars) — all running as Infrastructure-as-Code on infrastructure I administer and operate end to end.
